Growing since 2000, it describes itself as a plantsman’s nursery and concentrates on rare and unusual plants, particularly shade and woodland plants such as ferns, hostas and begonias, alongside hellebores, grasses, climbers, shrubs and trees.

Visitors can buy plants at the nursery and explore its plantsman’s garden and arboretum. It is open Monday to Saturday from early March to late December, 10am to 4pm, and is closed on Sundays and bank holidays. Parking is free, and a small self-service tea room in the former milking parlour offers tea, coffee, cake and soft drinks on an honesty-box basis.

Plants can also be bought through the nursery’s website, which lists more than 1,000. The nursery runs talks and events and welcomes club visits, so its website is the place to check for what is coming up.
