About Glinton
Glinton is a village in the City of Peterborough unitary authority, close to Northborough, Peakirk and Market Deeping. It has its own parish council and a range of local clubs and community groups, including a long-running village friendship club.
Development and growth
Glinton is affected by significant proposed and approved housing development. Peterborough City Council’s draft Local Plan allocates around 355 new homes across two sites in the village, at Peakirk Road and Glinton Road. Of these, an outline scheme for up to 250 homes off Peakirk Road, put forward by Gladman Developments, was refused by the council in May 2025 but had that refusal overturned on appeal by the Planning Inspectorate in January 2026 - meaning the principle of building up to 250 homes there, including affordable housing, has now been established, with reserved-matters approval (covering the detailed design) still to follow before building can start. Glinton Parish Council has publicly opposed the scheme. See the parish council’s own planning pages, linked below, for the current position.
